Five Word Speech
"thanks! I’m Still Dead Inside."
- Pete Davidson
Special Achievement honors those whose work has improved upon the experience and capabilities of the Internet in novel and impactful ways.
The 30th Annual Webby Awards is honored to recognize Pete Davidson with a 2026 Webby Special Achievement Award for becoming one of the defining performers of his generation and one of the Internet’s most closely followed voices.
In January 2026, he launched The Pete Davidson Show on Netflix, a cornerstone of the platform’s first original video podcast slate. Filmed largely from his garage and released weekly, the series scales the intimacy of podcast culture to a global streaming audience. The setting is simple and unvarnished, but that informality is deliberate. At a moment when so much digital content feels engineered for perfection, Davidson chose something closer, looser, and more human. It leans into the candor and vulnerability that have long defined his voice online, and audiences respond because it feels real.
That immediacy carries across everything he does. In 2025, he stepped into Amazon MGM Studios’ streaming film The Pickup, bridging generations of comedy while keeping his own offbeat edge intact. He returned to Saturday Night Live for its 1,000th regular episode, sliding back into live satire with the unpredictability that first made him a breakout star. Through a national Axe campaign and Instagram “AXE Me Anything” takeover, he spoke directly to young men about confidence, social media anxiety, and self-worth. And through a fundraising partnership with Alltroo benefiting Answer the Call, the nonprofit supporting families of first responders killed in the line of duty, he turned audience engagement into tangible impact rooted in his own history.
Pete Davidson does not curate distance from his audience. He lets them witness the evolution. For transforming vulnerability into cultural gravity and for helping pioneer a new format of streaming-era conversation, it is our great privilege to recognize Pete Davidson with a 2026 Webby Special Achievement Award.
