Pharrell Williams

The 25th Annual Webby Awards honors Pharrell Williams with the inaugural Webby Anthem Award for his groundbreaking endeavors working towards racial equity in education and entrepreneurship by empowering a new generation of students in S.T.E.A.M.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Motivation) through his non-profit, YELLOW, as well as supporting Black and Latinx business owners through his newest non-profit, Black Ambition.

The inaugural Webby Anthem Award recognizes and amplifies heroes leading mission-driven work that creates real-world impact. No one is more fitting of this inaugural honor than Pharrell Williams. A true visionary, talented singer, songwriter, music producer, fashion designer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, he has long pushed for racial equity across industries.

Most notably, Williams is helping to “even the odds” for students through his non-profit, YELLOW, established to provide children in underserved communities with the educational tools necessary for their future success. In early 2021, YELLOW announced ‘Your Voice Is Power,’ a new educational partnership with Amazon and the Georgia Institute of Technology formed to encourage middle and high school students to have meaningful conversations about racial equity, as well as inspire interest in computer science with lesson plans to teach students to code new music remixes. While racial equity in education is a noble undertaking, his philanthropic work does not stop with children - Williams announced the launch of Black Ambition in December 2020, a non-profit initiative intended to support Black and Latinx entrepreneurs in the tech, design, healthcare, and consumer products and services industries.
