The 25th Annual Webby Awards would like to honor Andra Day as the 2021 Webby Best Actress for her incredible work in the Hulu biographical film The United States vs. Billie Holiday. 

A talented singer and actress, Andra Day is no stranger to injecting her passion into a work and having the world notice, as evidenced by her hit record “Rise Up.” That’s partly what makes the Lee Daniels’ film one of the most compelling films added to Hulu in the past year. In her portrayal of Billie Holiday, Andra transcends as she tells Holiday’s story of being targeted by the Federal Bureau of Narcotics for her anti-lynching song “Strange Fruit.” At a time when it is more important than ever to give pioneering artists their flowers, it is exciting to see stars like Andra Day share these histories with a wide audience through streaming platforms. 

For bringing her talents to the streaming screen and her brilliant performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, it is our pleasure to honor Andra Day as the 2021 Webby Best Actress.
