The 25th Annual Webby Awards honors Jimir Reece Davis, also known as“Amorphous,” with a 2021 Webby Special Achievement Award  to recognize his ingenious way of breaking the Internet through his self-released mash-up of “Kiss It Better” by Rihanna and “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross—and for injecting the Internet with much needed positivity through his new single “Sunshine.”

Davis broke the Internet on November 26, 2020 with his mash-up of two classic songs: by Rihanna and by Luther Vandross. What started as a video released for fun on Twitter, under his DJ name Amorphous, has now become a viral hit with more than 2.6 million views, over 111,000 likes, and has been shared over 32,000 times. The mix, now used in the new single “Sunshine” by Fat Joe has steadily climbed charts, and its accompanying video has garnered almost 10 million views.

In an era during which artists fight to stand out on streaming, Amorphous made his dreams come through sharing his vision, incredible ear and deep passion for music with an online community, as well as his gracious nature. Davis and his story represent the power of the Internet as the best tool for independent artists to create and share their work. What’s more, during a year marked by many difficult moments, Davis and his music has brought real joy and connected people while they are at home. 

For his visionary talent, and use of the Internet to take the world by storm with his art, it is our great pleasure to honor Jimir Reece Davis with a 2021 Webby Special Achievement Award.
