2006 marks the introduction of our newest Special Achievement award, The Webby Entrepreneur of the Year. It gives us great pleasure to honor Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and co-founder of Broadcast.com, HDNet and 2929 Entertainment, as The Webby Entrepreneur of the Year and add him to the prestigious list of Webby Honorees. This award was established to recognize Net entrepreneurs whose skills and initiatives have played a significant roll in driving the Internet, culture and society forward. Mr.Cuban – a frequently outspoken evangelist of technology on the Web – is certainly no exception. His unique style and uncensored enthusiasm for media, innovation and of course basketball make this musch more than a tiresome old business award: It is the embodiment of doing business and cultivating your passions in the 21st century.
